Microsoft Introduces Windows 10 S

Microsoft has introduced a new series of Windows 10 called S. But what differentiates this new Windows from other versions of Windows 10? Windows 10 S is not sold independently and will only be pre-installed on certain new products. These products, offered by Microsoft or some laptop manufacturers, are primarily developed for educational purposes. The first product to be released with Microsoft's new operating system is the Surface laptop. Other companies like Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Samsung, Toshiba, Acer, and Asus will also soon launch products based on this new Windows. The new Windows operating system and new hardware from various companies are designed to compete against Google's products. Although Microsoft's new laptop is considered expensive at over $900, products from other companies that will be produced with Windows 10 S will have much lower prices starting at $189. However, computers equipped with Intel Celeron quad-core processors or higher and with 4GB of RAM will start at $229. Microsoft's new products are being launched with a focus on the educational market and in response to new Chromebook products. These products are designed and prepared to compete with Google's Chrome operating system. Windows 10 S, as the latest version of the Windows operating system, is designed with a focus on the needs of education, schools, and educational institutions. The main difference between Windows 10 and Windows 10 S relates to how software is managed in these two versions of the Windows operating system. In Windows 10 S, users will be limited to using software and games available in the Windows Store. However, users will have the option to upgrade from Windows 10 S to Windows 10 Pro. This upgrade will be free for users until the end of 2017. Windows 10 S is considered Microsoft's special tool to compete with the Chrome operating system, which has gained high popularity in the education sector. But can this operating system, limited to specific software, find a place among low-cost computers for students? Perhaps Microsoft has found the answer to this question in the reception of Chromebooks and Google's Chrome operating system. Microsoft hopes that the low price of $189 for laptops equipped with this version of Windows will lead institutions and universities to delegate their educational issues to these types of products. Although Windows 10 S has entered the market to compete with Chromebooks, users can upgrade their operating system to Windows 10 Pro if needed and take advantage of all the features of this operating system. Laptops equipped with Windows 10 S will only be able to download and use applications from the Windows Store. For this reason, Microsoft has provided the option to upgrade this operating system to the Pro version of Windows 10. In Windows 10 S, Microsoft Edge is set as the default browser, and Microsoft restricts users from changing the default browser in this operating system. Microsoft has even imposed restrictions within the Edge browser. The default search engine in Edge and Internet Explorer browsers in Windows 10 S cannot be changed. Microsoft uses Bing as the default search engine in the Edge browser, and users cannot change the default search engine in this browser. Therefore, it is not possible to set Google as the default browser in this operating system. Given the restrictions imposed in Windows 10 S, some experts consider these limitations a risk factor for the development of Windows 10 S.
