Mike Pence Warns Kim Jong Un About US-North Korea Summit

Mike Pence, the Vice President of the United States, warned Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, regarding the upcoming summit between the two countries scheduled for next month. In an interview with Fox News, Pence stated that if Kim Jong Un thinks he can play Donald Trump, he is making a big mistake. Reuters reports that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, and Kim Jong Un were supposed to meet on June 12 in Singapore, but doubts have arisen about the meeting following a verbal conflict between the two sides over the Libya model for North Korea's denuclearization. Pence mentioned that discussions about the Libya model were raised last week, and the President made it clear that Kim Jong Un would face the Libya model only if he does not agree. John Bolton, the National Security Advisor, stated last week that the US would use the Libya disarmament model in its approach to North Korea. This statement prompted a reaction from North Korea, which announced that if the US insists on unilateral denuclearization, Pyongyang would withdraw from negotiations with the US. However, the Vice President emphasized that this is President Trump's model for negotiations, and he intends to continue them as he sees fit. In response to a question about the President's willingness to withdraw from negotiations with Kim Jong Un, he stated that there is no doubt in this regard. Muammar Gaddafi, the former leader of Libya, agreed in 2003 to eliminate his country's nuclear program and destroy its chemical weapons in exchange for the lifting of sanctions against Libya. Less than a decade after this event, Gaddafi was overthrown and ultimately killed following a popular uprising and NATO intervention. Last week, Donald Trump assured that if North Korea denuclearizes, Kim Jong Un will remain in power, and the Libya model will not be applied to North Korea.
