Ministry of Health Exiles Two Medical Students to Ardabil

The Central Committee of the Ministry of Health of the Islamic Republic has exiled two students from Tehran University of Medical Sciences to Ardabil University of Medical Sciences. The Student Guild Council's information channel announced that based on the Ministry of Health's ruling, "Motehra Goneyi" has been sentenced to a 24-month temporary suspension from studies, with the possibility of executing 12 months of the sentence, along with exile and a change of study location to Ardabil University of Medical Sciences. The husband of this student, "Mahdi Hadi Zadeh," has also been sentenced to two semesters of suspension from studies and exile to Ardabil University of Medical Sciences according to the ruling of the Central Committee of the Ministry of Health. Motehra Goneyi is a dental student at Tehran University of Medical Sciences and was among those arrested during the nationwide protests of 2022. She had previously been sentenced by the Student Disciplinary Council to "expulsion from the university with a five-year ban on studying at all universities." Motehra Goneyi was the political secretary of the Islamic Students Association of Tehran University and Tehran University of Medical Sciences and the secretary of the Islamic Students Association of the Faculty of Dentistry. Idris Manbari and Sarveh Pour Mohammadi, civil activists in Sanandaj, have been sentenced to 20 years in prison. Niloufar Mirzaei, one of those arrested during the funeral of Armita Garavand, has been transferred to Qarchak Prison. There is an increase in pressure and summons of students; the Student Guild Councils of the country say it is "unprecedented" and under the pretext of hijab. A professor at the University of Medical Sciences has been suspended from teaching due to "signing" several statements.
