Mir Hossein Mousavi: I am ready to reveal the truths behind the sources of massive corruption

Mir Hossein Mousavi, a candidate who protested the announced results of the 2009 elections in Iran, in his latest message from house arrest stated, "I am ready to respond to accusations and reveal the truths related to the sources of the massive corruption that has engulfed the country and the revolution." He also reacted to the accusation of being an overthrowist, deeming it "a result of the impiety and weakness of the accusers." Mousavi's latest remarks were published on Saturday, December 27, on the news website Khabarnameh, close to him, and Ardshir Amir Arjamand, Mousavi's advisor, also provided explanations in an interview with Radio Farda regarding the details of this message. According to Khabarnameh, the last Prime Minister of Iran has recently stated: "Both I and Rahnavard have repeatedly expressed our readiness through our jailers to appear in a public and competent court since the beginning of our house arrest." Mousavi emphasized that "the recent claim of charges being explained is false and meaningless, and we have requested several times for a judicial authority to determine our legal status and address the illegal entry and months of unauthorized presence in our home, which despite promises made, has never been acted upon." He also stressed that "if they did not label the growth and maturity of a nation as the chaos of a few goats and calves instead of making baseless accusations, they would not have to deny major corruptions today and divert public opinion from the dangers of such corruption and decay through psychological warfare and the establishment of narrative caravans." The mention of "narrative caravans" in Mousavi's statements refers to a plan called "the caravan of recounting the sedition," which has recently been initiated. According to Fars News Agency, this caravan, which has moved from Qom to Tehran, is focused on revisiting the events of 2009 and featuring eyewitnesses of those events in Tehran. The "caravan of recounting the sedition" has examined some events related to the 2009 protests in Tehran and has narrated these locations for attendees. In another part of his statements, Mousavi described the issue of overthrowing as "slander and fabrication" and stated, "Those who create massive corruption in the country from the pockets of the underprivileged and the poor are the real overthrowists." Recently, the weekly Sobhe Sadegh, affiliated with the political office of the Revolutionary Guards, wrote in its latest issue that the main reason for the house arrest of Zahra Rahnavard, Mir Hossein Mousavi, and Mehdi Karroubi is not their protest against the results of the 2009 presidential election. This weekly stated that "the sedition was a context that the leaders of the sedition, with their reckless and hasty actions, which had the moment-to-moment support of the enemies of the regime, quickly reached the stage of overthrowing the regime, and reaching this stage was the clear reason for their house arrest." In the literature of some principlist forces, "sedition" refers to the protests following the 2009 election. The contents of this weekly have also been reflected in other media, and now the Khabarnameh website describes it as "a broad propaganda wave of government media against the companions of the Green Movement." Mir Hossein Mousavi, Zahra Rahnavard, and Mehdi Karroubi, the leaders of the protests against the 2009 presidential election, have been under house arrest without trial since February 2011.
