Mir Hossein Mousavi Transferred to Hospital for Several Hours

The website Kaleme reported that Mir Hossein Mousavi, one of the leaders of the 2009 presidential election protesters, was taken to a "specialized hospital" on Sunday, April 29, by security agents for "cardiac echo" and "diagnostic tests." The website described Mousavi's condition and test results as "good and satisfactory." According to the report, Zahra Rahnavard was also with Mir Hossein Mousavi, and "hospital sources said their condition in the hospital and afterward was good." The report did not specify which hospital Mousavi was taken to. In 2014, there were also reports regarding Mir Hossein Mousavi's heart surgery. In March of last year, the children of Mir Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard released a statement announcing a "change in the security situation" of their parents in detention and stated that their situation had become "more critical." On March 23 of last year, Kaleme quoted one of the daughters of Mir Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard, stating that the Minister of Health visited their parents and issued necessary medical orders after examining them. Meanwhile, Hassan Hashemi, the Minister of Health, announced on Tuesday, April 9, that he is obligated to monitor the health conditions of Mir Hossein Mousavi, Zahra Rahnavard, and Mehdi Karroubi to ensure necessary actions are taken. These three leaders of the 2009 presidential election protesters have undergone eye surgeries during their house arrest under the supervision of the Minister of Health. Their families have repeatedly expressed concern over their physical conditions in recent years. Mehdi Karroubi underwent surgery for a broken leg on Wednesday morning, December 8, 2015, and after the surgery, Hossein Fereydoun, the brother of the Iranian President, visited him and conveyed President Hassan Rouhani's "greetings" to him. This was the sixth surgery Mehdi Karroubi had since the beginning of his house arrest, having previously undergone surgeries for a herniated disc, knee, urinary tract, eye, and heart. Mir Hossein Mousavi, Zahra Rahnavard, and Mehdi Karroubi, who protested the results of the 2009 presidential election, have been under house arrest without trial since February 2011. Mehdi Karroubi was transferred to his home in Jamaran in February 2014 after three years of "detention" in a "safe house" of the Ministry of Intelligence, but he remains under house arrest. In a letter to the Iranian President published on Saturday, April 21, he emphasized that he does not consider the lifting of his house arrest to be "in his hands" and requested Hassan Rouhani to ask the "oppressive regime" to put him on trial in a "public court."
