Mir Hossein Mousavi's Daughter Says He Has Been Discharged from the Hospital

On Wednesday, December 5, Zahra Mousavi, the daughter of Mir Hossein Mousavi, announced that her father has been discharged from the hospital after spending 'several difficult days' with the doctors' consent. Zahra Mousavi, a leader of the protests against the results of the 2009 presidential election, wrote on her Instagram story: 'Thank you for your attention and follow-ups; after several difficult days, my father has been discharged from the hospital with improved conditions and the doctors' consent.' The analytical news website 'Kaleme' reported on Tuesday, December 4, that Mr. Mousavi's health had become 'concerning' due to a 'drug allergy,' but he is 'on the road to relative recovery.' Some close associates of Mir Hossein Mousavi, including Ardeshir Amir Arjamand, have held the Islamic Republic responsible for his life. Mr. Amir Arjamand stated that 'what is happening is a form of continuous torture aimed at gradually silencing' Mr. Mousavi and his wife, Zahra Rahnavard. Previously, there had been rumors on social media regarding Mir Hossein Mousavi's death. However, the Telegram channel 'Emtedad News' published Zahra Mousavi's Instagram account on Wednesday, denying any rumors about Mir Hossein Mousavi's death and called for news regarding Mr. Mousavi and his wife, Zahra Rahnavard, to be followed through media close to them and their children. According to the report from Kaleme on Tuesday, 'Mir Hossein Mousavi suffered a severe drug allergy following routine outpatient treatments, while the medication used this time had caused allergies in previous treatments as well.' The report stated that this critical political figure, a critic of Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, was hospitalized due to 'intensified dangerous side effects and a critical situation in the continuation of treatment,' but 'this situation is currently under the supervision of trusted doctors.' Mir Hossein Mousavi, a presidential candidate in the 2009 government election and a rival of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is known as one of the leaders of the nationwide protests known as the 'Green Movement.' Mr. Mousavi and his wife, Zahra Rahnavard, have been under house arrest since February 2011. Mir Hossein Mousavi was the last Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic during the leadership of Ruhollah Khomeini and before the constitutional revision in 1989.
