Mohammad Nourizad's Message from Evin: 'Unite' for Liberation

Mohammad Nourizad, a political activist imprisoned, sent a message from Evin Prison urging the people of Iran to unite and collectively strive for the liberation of the country from the Islamic Republic regime. In his message, Nourizad emphasized the necessity of setting aside differences and tensions, asking compatriots to join hands for a better future and to avoid internal conflicts in the pursuit of overthrowing the Islamic Republic. Part of his message reads: 'From the voice of our beloved land, Iran, with pain, with tears, with pleading, I say to you: be together. Our dear Iran asks us to unite for its liberation from this deadly cancer, to throw these Iran-devouring destroyers into the abyss of ruin.' He also warned that the people should not fall prey to the divisive tactics of the Islamic Republic's security apparatus and must unite before it is too late, adding: 'I ask you; even for the sake of the blind eyes of the leaders of the Islamic Republic, stay together for the future of great Iran, avoid differences, tensions, and being apart. Let us wash our hands of fighting among ourselves, of 'I am better than you, you are smaller than me,' so that together we can throw these Iran-devouring destroyers into the abyss of ruin.' This political prisoner concluded with a warning: 'Do not fall into the traps of the intelligence and the IRGC, and let us not wake up one day to find it is too late.' Khosrow Alikordi, a lawyer who has recently been released from prison, conveyed Mohammad Nourizad's message to Voice of America. Mohammad Nourizad, a director, screenwriter, journalist, and political activist, has been in Evin Prison since December 2019. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for writing a letter to Ali Khamenei requesting his resignation along with 14 other civil and political activists.
