Molavi Abdolhamid: The country's problems cannot be solved by issuing death sentences

Molavi Abdolhamid, the Sunni Friday prayer leader of Zahedan, stated in his Friday sermon on August 11 that the country's problems cannot be resolved by imprisoning journalists or politicians or by issuing death sentences. He outlined some of the crises facing the country, stating that their solutions lie in proper planning and dialogue with the people. This prominent Sunni cleric criticized the management in Iran, claiming that current planners are either weak or lack authority. In relation to ongoing environmental crises in the country, he pointed to the frequent wildfires in the forests, including in Marivan, the drying up of wetlands, the shortage of drinking water, and the crises affecting Lake Urmia and Hamun. Molavi Abdolhamid called on the 'Islamic government of Afghanistan' to 'properly manage the Helmand water' and allow the share of water for Sistan to flow. He also highlighted the healthcare crisis in the country, reminding that patients struggle to obtain necessary medications at exorbitant prices. The Sunni Friday prayer leader of Zahedan regarded the devaluation of the Iranian currency and the ongoing economic crisis as a source of suffering for all Iranians. In previous Friday sermons, Molavi Abdolhamid has consistently held high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic, including Ali Khamenei and the Revolutionary Guards, directly responsible for the suppression of protesters and the ongoing crises in the country, calling for equality among all Iranians regardless of ethnicity, race, gender, or religion. He stated that the government has not fulfilled any of the promises made to the Sunni community and emphasized that people should not be killed for the survival of the government. He noted internet disruptions in Zahedan, stating that women are showing their civil disobedience by removing their hijabs. Molavi Abdolhamid called for 'respect for women and their demands' and the release of political prisoners, reacting to the 'violent crackdown' in Bandar Kolahi, where people are struggling for a piece of bread.
