Monfaredzadeh to Kimiayi: Do Not Perform My Music

Esfandiar Monfaredzadeh, an experienced Iranian composer and musician, in a letter addressed to filmmaker Masoud Kimiayi, stated that "I have not been and will not be aligned with you" and requested that his works not be performed at the film music night of this director. The film music night was scheduled to take place on August 6 with the performance of the symphonic orchestra led by Behzad Abdi and singing by Reza Yazdani at the Ministry of Interior Hall in Tehran. The orchestra was set to perform music from films such as 'Raees', 'Hokm', 'Jorm', 'Metropol', 'Grouhban', 'E'teraz', 'Dandan Mar', 'Reza Motor', 'Dash Akol', 'Gheysar', and several others, with Reza Yazdani accompanying as a guest singer in some pieces. However, on July 15, Monfaredzadeh sent a letter to the 'Music Ma' website, pleading with his old friend and colleague not to hold this performance. In his letter, Esfandiar Monfaredzadeh wrote: "I urgently request you, Mr. Reza [Behzad] Abdi and Master Masoud Kimiayi, to refrain from violating my moral and material rights, namely the performance of my music, even if it brings you benefits, as I have not been and will not be aligned with you!" The letter continued: "There are many works from the film music of 'Safar Sang' until today that can be used with permission from their creators." Monfaredzadeh also emphasized at the end of his text addressed to Masoud Kimiayi: "Please be kind so that I am not forced to change my words!" The music for all of Masoud Kimiayi's pre-revolution works, such as 'Biganeh Biya', 'Gheysar', 'Reza Motor', 'Dash Akol', 'Balooch', 'Khaak', 'Ghazal', and 'Gavaznha', has been composed by Esfandiar Monfaredzadeh, except for one film. The soundtrack for the film 'Safar Sang', which is considered Kimiayi's last work before the revolution, was composed by Majid Entezami and a person named Ismail Mahan. Other works by Esfandiar Monfaredzadeh include the soundtracks for the films 'Tangna' and 'Khoda Hafez Rafigh' directed by Amir Naderi, 'Toghi', 'Hasan Kachal', and 'Khastegaar' directed by Ali Hatami, and 'Nafrin' directed by Nasser Taghvaei. Monfaredzadeh has been residing in Sweden for many years.
