Monthly Report of the Kurdistan Human Rights Network: 10 Kurdish Prisoners Executed in One Month

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported in its January report that multiple instances of civil rights violations against Kurds have occurred, including the execution of 10 prisoners by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic. This human rights organization noted that these executions were carried out in the Ghezel Hesar prison in Karaj, the central prison of Karaj, and in Hamadan on charges related to 'espionage,' 'drug offenses,' and 'corruption on earth.' The report specifically mentions the execution of Farhad Salimi, a Sunni Kurdish political prisoner, who was executed on the third of Bahman after 14 years of imprisonment in Ghezel Hesar prison. The report emphasized that Farhad Salimi was sentenced to death after a period of detention that involved torture and in an 'unfair trial' alongside six other Sunni Kurdish citizens in a joint case on charges of 'corruption on earth.' The Kurdistan Human Rights Network also reported on the execution of four Kurdish political prisoners named Pejman Fatehi, Mohsen Mazloom, Mohammad Faramerzi, and Vafa Azarbar, members of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan, on charges of 'espionage for Israel' on the ninth of Bahman in Ghezel Hesar prison, stating: 'They were deprived of family visits from the time of their arrest on the first of Mordad 1401 until one day before the execution.' The report emphasizes that 'in the judicial process, the appointed lawyer was not allowed to meet, attend court, or access case information, and there was even no information about the prison where they were held.' The Kurdistan Human Rights Network pointed out that due to the prohibition of independent human rights organizations in Iran, the statistics and information provided in this report do not encompass all instances of human rights violations. In another section of the report, it was noted that in the past month, four Kolbers were killed due to gunfire from border guards and one Kolber died from frostbite in border areas. At least 38 Kolbers were injured as a result of 'beatings and gunfire' from the Islamic Republic's military forces, three of whom are children. The monthly report of the Kurdistan Human Rights Network indicates that at least 12 Kurdish citizens and activists have received death sentences, imprisonment, flogging, and fines from Islamic Revolutionary Courts, criminal courts, and the Supreme Court in Tehran, Kurdistan, West Azerbaijan, and Ilam provinces on political charges. Additionally, at least 54 Kurdish citizens and activists have been arrested in various cities of Iran on political and ideological charges by security agencies. Reports indicate that following the nationwide protests in 1401 over the death of Mahsa Amini while in the custody of the morality police, security crackdowns on political and social activists in Kurdish regions have significantly increased.
