More Ships and Fighters on the Way to the Persian Gulf; The U.S. Strengthens Its Military Presence

Following provocative actions and the seizure of commercial vessels by the Islamic Republic in the waters of the Middle East in recent months, the United States has sought to bolster its military presence in the region. This comes as a senior U.S. defense official announced on Friday that the country is deploying F-16 fighters to the Persian Gulf to counter the seizure of ships by the Islamic Republic. According to this senior official, the United States is sending F-16 fighter jets to the Persian Gulf over the weekend to reinforce A-10 attack aircraft that have been patrolling the Strait of Hormuz for over a week. The unnamed official stated that the purpose of deploying F-16 fighter jets in the region is to provide air protection and coverage for ships moving through the Persian Gulf and passing through the Strait of Hormuz. He noted that this action has increased the U.S. military's surveillance capabilities in the region and will serve as a deterrent against the Islamic Republic. This decision follows the Islamic Republic's seizure of two oil tankers near this strait earlier this month, during which they even fired at one of them.
