Mossad: Criminal Network Supported by the Islamic Republic Responsible for Attacks on Israeli Embassies in Europe

The Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, claimed on Thursday that the Islamic Republic of Iran was involved in a series of 'terrorist attacks' by criminal networks against Israeli embassies in Europe following Hamas's terrorist attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023. According to the Israeli news site 'Times of Israel', following the discovery of an explosive device - reportedly a hand grenade - in the compound of the Israeli embassy in Stockholm last December, Mossad began investigations alongside its European counterparts. Swedish bomb disposal forces destroyed the explosive device. Mossad stated that after interrogating suspects and examining crime scene evidence, agents concluded that the organized criminal group 'Foxtrat' in Sweden was responsible for the attack under the orders of the Islamic Republic. According to the report, Israel claims Rava Majid, known as 'the Kurdish Fox' and leader of the Foxtrat group, had been working with the Islamic Republic for months. The report states that after being pursued by international law enforcement and Iraqi security forces, he fled from Turkey to Iran in September 2023, where he was recruited by Islamic Republic agents. Mossad indicated that after being arrested in Iran, he was hired to plan a series of attacks in Europe against Jewish and Israeli targets. Mossad has reported that dozens of terrorist plots supported by the Islamic Republic against Jewish and Israeli targets have been uncovered in recent months, many of which utilized local criminal networks. The intelligence agency also accused the Islamic Republic of attempting to exploit the 'increasing anti-Semitism in Europe' and trying to evade direct responsibility for the attacks attributed to the Iranian government. Following the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, which resulted in 1,200 deaths and over 240 hostages taken, Israel launched a comprehensive assault on Gaza aimed at destroying this Islamist group supported by the Islamic Republic. The United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Japan, Israel, and several other countries have listed Hamas as a terrorist organization.
