Nabil Qawq, Senior Hezbollah Official, Killed in Israeli Attack

The Israeli army announced that in an airstrike on Saturday, October 7, Nabil Qawq, another senior official of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, was killed. There has been no news released regarding the location of Nabil Qawq's death, and Hezbollah has not yet reacted to this news. Nabil Qawq, a veteran member of Hezbollah, commanded the military operations of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon during the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, known as the 33-Day War. The U.S. had sanctioned him since 2020, about four years ago. The Israeli army's attack on the outskirts of Beirut on Friday, October 6, also resulted in the deaths of Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, and several senior commanders of this Iranian proxy group in the region. As Hezbollah continues to launch missiles and rockets towards northern Israel, several high-ranking commanders of this Iranian-supported group, including founders of the group and close associates of Hassan Nasrallah who had escaped death or imprisonment for decades, have been killed in a series of Israeli attacks in recent weeks. The Lebanese Ministry of Health has reported that the wave of Israeli attacks across vast areas of the country has resulted in at least 1,030 deaths, including 156 women and 87 children, in less than two weeks. Nasrallah's body was pulled from the rubble. Israeli security officials denied any connection between Netanyahu's trip to New York and the death of Hassan Nasrallah. A senior policy advisor from the 'Alliance Against a Nuclear Iran' stated that Israel has eliminated a generation of Hezbollah's leadership. Michael Pregent, a terrorism analyst, noted that the Islamic Republic never imagined it would lose Hezbollah's leadership.
