Nancy Pelosi: FBI Should Investigate Possible Russian Links to Gaza War Protests

Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, said on Sunday that she believes some protests in the United States calling for a ceasefire in Gaza may be linked to Russia, and that the FBI should investigate the funding behind those protests. According to Reuters, Pelosi made these comments in response to CNN's question about whether opposition to President Joe Biden's policies regarding the Gaza conflict could harm Democrats in the upcoming November presidential elections. She told CNN, 'The fact that they are calling for a ceasefire is Mr. Putin's message, make no mistake, it is directly related to what he (Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia) wants to see.' The former Speaker stated, 'I think some of these protesters are spontaneous, organic, and sincere. Some (of them) I believe are linked to Russia.' Pelosi did not provide evidence for her claims. She mentioned that some funding sources should be investigated and called on the FBI to look into them. This is the first time a prominent American lawmaker has accused the Russian leader of supporting American protesters calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. Previously, Russia's efforts to influence Western societies and its misleading media campaigns have been reported multiple times. Following the terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7, which resulted in over 1,200 deaths and more than 240 hostages taken, the Israeli military launched air, sea, and ground attacks to destroy Hamas.
