Narges Mohammadi, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, to be Tried Again in a 'New Case'

Narges Mohammadi's lawyer, who is imprisoned in Evin, announced that a court session will be held next week to address new charges against his client. Mostafa Nili wrote on social media platform 'X': 'The hearing for Ms. Narges Mohammadi's new case will take place on Sunday, 30th of Ordibehesht, in Branch 29 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Tehran.' According to this lawyer, Narges Mohammadi, a human rights activist, is accused in this case of 'propaganda against the regime.' Narges Mohammadi, an honorary winner of the 'Freedom of Expression' award from the American PEN Association, continues to remain behind bars despite international calls for her release. She has continued her human rights activities in prison, emphasizing her opposition to the death penalty and fighting against human rights violations by the Islamic Republic both inside and outside of prison. Over the past three decades, Narges Mohammadi has been arrested and imprisoned multiple times, and in her latest legal case, she was sentenced to 10 years in prison for 'propaganda against the regime' and is currently held in Evin Prison in Tehran. Narges Mohammadi considers the presence of over 20 female prisoners over 60 years old in Evin as indicative of 'the will of women' and 'the cruelty of the Islamic Republic.'
