According to Science Times, NASA researchers believe that uncovering hidden secrets in the Antarctic snow may provide strong evidence of life beyond our planet. The main reason for NASA's interest in the activities of the Erebus volcano is to prepare for future discoveries on Jupiter's moon, Europa. They are preparing explorer robots to search for signs of life on this small planet, and Antarctica could serve as a good testing ground for them. According to the Daily Galaxy website, NASA scientists are closely monitoring the activities of this volcano. They have found microscopic living organisms in its interior and are attempting to gather information using various tools. Despite being discovered over three centuries ago, Antarctica, buried under snow and ice, remains one of the strangest and least known places on Earth. Under international agreements, countries are only allowed to use the land of this continent for research purposes. Many scientists and researchers have spent years exploring its wonders, one of which is Mount Erebus, the only active volcano at the southernmost point of the Earth. Now NASA states that Mount Erebus may be a gateway to understanding another world. The height of this mountain is 3,794 meters compared to Ross Island, which is known as the center of Antarctica, and it is buried under snow and ice for almost the entire year. However, the difference between this volcano and others on Earth lies in its underground structure, specifically the central chamber. While in other volcanoes this section is made of molten rocks, in Mount Erebus, this section is filled with solid, cold rocks that block access to the magma chamber, which is the section containing molten materials.
