Nasrallah Threatens Israel Again: 'Our Response is Coming'; Sonic Boom in Beirut Sky

Following Hezbollah's drone attacks on Israel on Tuesday, Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of this Iran-backed militant group, once again threatened Israel with 'response.' Nasrallah stated that Hezbollah's response 'is on the way, either alone or in conjunction with the axis.' The axis or resistance axis is a term used in the Iranian discourse to refer to militia groups supportive of the Iranian government, which are also known as the 'axis of evil.' Moments before Nasrallah's speech on Tuesday, Israeli fighter jets flew over Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, causing a sonic boom that shook the city's windows. On Tuesday, August 7, Hezbollah targeted northern Israel with a series of drone and missile attacks. A Hezbollah-affiliated source told Reuters that the 'revenge' for the killing of Fouad Shukr, a senior commander of the group, has not yet come. Israel has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack on Fouad Shukr, identifying him as the perpetrator of a recent deadly attack in northern Israel that killed 12 Israeli children. Hezbollah announced that it launched several attack drones at two military bases near the port city of Akka in northern Israel and attacked an Israeli military vehicle elsewhere. The Israeli army also reported that it identified several drones crossing from Lebanon and intercepted one drone. According to this announcement, several civilians were injured in the southern city of Nahariya. Reuters television images show one of the hit locations near a bus station on one of the main roads outside the city. The Israeli army stated that warning sirens sounded around Akka, but this was a false alarm. The statement added that the Israeli Air Force attacked two Hezbollah facilities in southern Lebanon. Earlier on Tuesday, August 7, four people were killed after an attack on a house in the town of Mayfadun, located 30 kilometers north of the border. Two security sources told Reuters that the deceased were Hezbollah fighters. Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah reached their highest level in months after Israel retaliated for the killing of at least 12 of its children and teenagers in a Hezbollah airstrike on Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights by killing Fouad Shukr, a senior commander of Hezbollah and 'right-hand man' of Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut. A few days later, Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's political bureau in Tehran, was killed. Iranian officials attributed this action to Israel, and Ali Khamenei emphasized 'revenge' for him. Despite the Iranian government's threats and nearly a week passing since the killing of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, the Islamic Republic has not yet responded to this action attributed to Israel. Japan has warned its citizens: do not travel to Israel and leave Lebanon. According to Iraqi and American sources, at least five American personnel were injured after two Katyusha rockets hit Al-Asad Airbase. Israeli army commanders suggested to political officials to carry out a 'preemptive strike' against the Islamic Republic and Hezbollah.
