Nasrin Shakerimi Temporarily Released on Bail of 5 Billion Tomans

The family of Nika Shakerimi, one of the victims of the nationwide protests in Iran in 2022, announced on Saturday, December 1, that Nasrin Shakerimi, Nika's mother, has been temporarily released from Khorramabad prison on a bail of 5 billion tomans. Atash Shakerimi, Nasrin's sister, announced this news on her Instagram page, stating that her sister has been sentenced to "one year in prison," "two years of travel ban," "two years of residency ban in Lorestan," and "two years of prohibition on virtual activities." According to Atash Shakerimi, her sister's lawyer has appealed the ruling and requested a review. Previously, Ali Omidi, Nasrin Shakerimi's lawyer, mentioned the charges against his client as "insulting sacred beliefs and spreading falsehoods with the intent to disturb public opinion," "propaganda against the regime," "inciting people to war and murder," and "insulting Ali Khamenei and Ruhollah Khomeini." Nika Shakerimi, a 16-year-old protester, was reportedly sexually assaulted and killed by Islamic Republic agents during the crackdown on the "Women, Life, Freedom" protests. Nasrin Shakerimi was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents in Khorramabad on October 17 of this year, and her Instagram account has been inaccessible since that day. Her daughter, Aida Shakerimi, had previously stated that her mother was being held in a temporary detention center of the Ministry of Intelligence at Khorramabad Central Prison and was deprived of the right to contact and visit.
