Nasrin Sotoudeh Warns About Violence Against Protesters of Mandatory Hijab

The protest movement of several women and girls against mandatory hijab, which includes removing their headscarves in public spaces and hanging them on sticks, continues. Simultaneously, reports from Iran indicate that security confrontations with these individuals remain strong. According to reports received by Radio Farda, at least two more of these protesters, known as the 'Girls of Revolution Street', have been arrested by the police within the last 24 hours. One of them, Shaparak Shajari-Zadeh, was arrested on Wednesday and, according to her family, was beaten during detention. Another case, which has also been shared on social media, involves an individual standing silently on a platform with a headscarf in hand. As observed, the police violently pushes her off the platform, causing her to fall to the ground. Nasrin Sotoudeh, a lawyer and human rights defender who represents Ms. Shajari-Zadeh, confirms these incidents in an interview with Radio Farda, warning about the violence against these individuals.
