National Council of Resistance of Iran Reports Arrests of Supporters of the Mojahedin and Their Families

The National Council of Resistance of Iran accused the Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic of Iran of intensifying the arrest of supporters of the Mojahedin-e Khalq and their families to "prevent" social protests and uprisings against the government. This council, which is close to the Mojahedin-e Khalq organization, noted the issuance of death sentences for three supporters of this organization in the last week of September this year and the commencement of trials for seven other prisoners on October 7 on charges of rebellion and membership in the Mojahedin. It added that several supporters of this political group have been arrested and are under interrogation, mainly after the rise of the new government. According to the statement, the names of some of the detainees include "Hojjat Alizadeh, 57 years old, in Yazd prison," "Kowsar Dehbanzadeh, 33 years old, in the women's section of Shiraz prison," "Mohammad Ali Tandor, 31 years old, in Evin prison," "Resoul Sadati, 63 years old, Taghi Mahmoudi, 62 years old, Sasan Noori, 37 years old, in Qaemshahr prison," "Amin Farahani Kasamai, 45 years old, in Lakan prison in Rasht," "Nira Behnoodi, 53 years old, in the women's section of Evin prison," "Hossein Sheibani, 37 years old, in Isfahan," "Karim Khajasteh, 61 years old, in Lakan prison in Rasht," "Sajjad Paghoush, 36 years old from Yasuj," and "Parisa Kamali, 40 years old, in Isfahan prison." The National Council of Resistance of Iran announced that the names and details of the detainees have been sent to international bodies. The transfer of Maryam Akbari Monfared, a political prisoner, to Qarchak Varamin prison to serve an additional two years of imprisonment. Mohammad Javad Vafaee Sani, a political prisoner, has been sentenced to death for the third time. The National Council of Resistance of Iran reported the issuance of death sentences for two supporters of the Mojahedin-e Khalq.
