Netanyahu Describes Current War as 'Clash of Civilizations' and Labels Islamic Republic and Hamas as 'Axis of Terror'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in an article published by the Wall Street Journal, referred to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, addressing 'civilized' countries, stating: 'This is not just Israel's war; if Hamas and the Islamic Republic win, you will be their next target. But we will prevail.' Netanyahu emphasized that 'the terror inflicted by Hamas on October 7 reminds us that the promise of a better future will not be realized unless we and the civilized world are willing to fight against the barbarians and savages. The barbarians are willing to fight us, and their goal is clear: they want to shatter the hopeful future of our peoples and destroy everything we love, creating a world filled with fear and darkness.' He noted that today is a turning point for leaders and nations, adding: 'It is time for all of us to decide whether we are willing to fight for a hopeful future or surrender to oppression and terror. Rest assured that Israel will fight, just as it has been engaged in a war since October 7 that it did not start nor desire, but Israel has no choice but to win.' The Israeli Prime Minister also wrote: 'Hamas launched this war with the worst savagery that our people have seen since the Holocaust, killing children in front of their parents and parents in front of their children. They burned people alive, raped women, and beheaded men. The Islamic Republic has formed an axis of terror by arming, training, and financing Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and other terrorist proxy groups throughout the Middle East and beyond, waging war against the civilized world.' In the continuation of his article in the Wall Street Journal, Netanyahu accused Hamas of using mosques, hospitals, and ordinary civilians as shields, stating: 'As long as the international community blames Israel for Hamas's use of Palestinian human shields, Hamas will continue to use this tool of terror, while Israel does everything it can to protect Palestinian civilians from danger, Hamas does everything it can to expose Palestinian civilians to harm.' He concluded by rejecting any calls for a ceasefire, emphasizing: 'Calls for a ceasefire are requests for Israel to surrender to Hamas, to surrender to terrorism, to surrender to barbarism, and this will not happen. Today is a time for war, and Israel will continue to fight until final victory, because if Hamas and the axis of evil of the Islamic Republic prevail, all you civilized countries will be their next target.'
