Netanyahu: Hamas Will No Longer Rule Gaza

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, emphasized the end of Hamas's rule in the Gaza Strip during his visit to the 'Netsarim' crossing and warned that harming Israeli hostages would have severe consequences. The 'Times of Israel' reported on Tuesday, November 28, that Netanyahu described ending Hamas's rule in Gaza as a 'significant goal' of the Israeli army's operations in the region, stating that 'Hamas will not rule in Gaza.' The Israeli Prime Minister reiterated that after destroying Hamas's military capabilities, the next phase would target the group's 'governing capabilities.' Accompanied by Israel Katz, the Minister of Defense, and General Herzi Halevi, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Netanyahu once again stressed the importance of returning all hostages held by Hamas. He warned the captors, stating, 'Anyone who dares to harm our hostages will bear responsibility. We will pursue them and take them down.' Netanyahu also reiterated the offer of a five million dollar reward for the return of each hostage to Israel, adding, 'The choice is yours, but the outcome is the same. We will bring them all home.' During the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7 of last year, more than 1,200 people, mostly civilians, were killed, and over 250 others, including women, children, and the elderly, were taken hostage. In response to this attack, Israel launched an offensive against Gaza aimed at destroying Hamas and retrieving the kidnapped hostages. While about 100 hostages were exchanged for Palestinian prisoners during a temporary ceasefire late last fall, around 100 remain captive by Hamas, with reports indicating that some have been killed. Hamas is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Israel, Canada, Japan, and several other countries.
