Netanyahu: Israel is Ready to Accept a Temporary Ceasefire in Gaza

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, announced that he is ready to accept a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza war, but will not end the war. According to the Times of Israel, he made these remarks in an interview with Israel's Channel 14. Netanyahu emphasized that Israel will not agree to end the war, which is Hamas's main demand. Without going into details, he stated that Israel is taking many actions to reach an agreement. He added that now that Hezbollah in Lebanon has agreed to a ceasefire after severe Israeli attacks on its forces and heavy casualties to the group supported by the Islamic Republic, the conditions for a ceasefire with Hamas have significantly improved. Netanyahu continued that Hamas hoped the Islamic Republic would intervene to support it, but that did not happen. He also noted that Hamas hoped the Houthis would intervene to support it, which also did not occur. According to him, 'Most importantly, Hamas hoped Hezbollah would intervene to support it, but interestingly, Nasrallah stated on the second day of the attacks that the attacks would continue until Israel stops its assault on Hamas. However, now Hezbollah is not alongside Hamas.' Netanyahu concluded by saying that in Gaza, Israel aims to destroy Hamas, and in Lebanon, the goal is to prevent Hezbollah from rearming at this time.
