Netanyahu: Israel Will Prevail in War with Hamas

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, on Saturday night, January 13, ahead of the hundredth day of Hamas militants' attacks on the country, stated that Israel will prevail in the war against Hamas, referencing the International Court of Justice and the Islamic Republic along with its representatives. According to the Jerusalem Post, he said, "No one will stop us, neither The Hague, nor the axis of evil, nor anyone else." Netanyahu's remarks came as the International Court of Justice in The Hague was addressing South Africa's complaint against Israel for genocide and its request to halt the war in Gaza. Amid escalating disputes between representatives of both countries, South Africa has claimed a "violation of the 1948 Convention" regarding the prevention of genocide and has asked the International Court of Justice to intervene in this matter. In response to South Africa's complaint, Israel argues that it is Hamas that is the main accused of genocide due to the October 7 attack against Israel, which resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 people and the kidnapping of 250. According to the report, Benjamin Netanyahu, while attacking Hamas, noted: "There is certainly a reason why Olaf Scholz, the Chancellor of Germany, sought to watch a film depicting the brutal massacre of October 7, stating that 'Hamas terrorists are the new Nazis.'" As Germany announced on Friday, January 12, that it has joined the case as a third party and will be present before the judges at the main court session, Netanyahu told reporters that he wanted to thank Germany for its decision to file a lawsuit on behalf of Israel at the International Court of Justice. Previously, Benjamin Netanyahu had reacted strongly to South Africa's complaint at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, stating: "The cry of hypocrisy from South Africa reaches the heavens." He added: "We are fighting against terrorists, we are fighting against lies... today we witnessed an inverted world. Israel is accused of genocide while it is fighting against genocide." The Israeli Foreign Ministry has also accused South Africa of playing the role of the legal arm of the terrorist organization Hamas in a case built on "false and baseless claims."
