Netanyahu on Meeting with Trump: 'A Historic Turning Point for Israel'

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, stated on Sunday at the beginning of a cabinet meeting, held just hours after his return from the United States, that his meeting with Donald Trump, the President of the United States, led to 'great achievements' that 'can guarantee Israel's security for generations.' The Israeli Prime Minister added, 'I am not exaggerating. There are opportunities for possibilities that I think we never dreamed of or seemed feasible just a few months ago - but [now] they are possible.' Netanyahu continued by saying that Trump agreed with all of Israel's goals, including the elimination of Hamas, the return of all hostages, ensuring the end of the threat from Hamas against Israel, the return of Israeli refugees to their homes in the south and north of the country, 'and of course preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.' Regarding Trump's proposed plan for Gaza after the war, Netanyahu said the U.S. President presented a 'revolutionary and creative vision' that would 'open many possibilities' for Israel. Netanyahu described his trip to the U.S. as 'a historic turning point for the State of Israel' and reiterated his country's commitment to advancing the ceasefire agreement with Hamas. The Israeli Prime Minister, who arrived in Washington D.C. on Sunday afternoon, is the first foreign leader invited to the U.S. following Trump's return to the White House. He met with the U.S. President on Tuesday to discuss regional issues, including the Islamic Republic's nuclear program and its proxy groups. Netanyahu also met with the Vice President, the Speaker of the House, the Secretary of Defense, and congressional leaders from both the Democratic and Republican parties. Riyadh's opposition to Netanyahu's comments about the exit of Palestinians from Gaza, Netanyahu's agreement to send a delegation to Qatar to discuss ceasefire details, Trump's sanctions on the International Criminal Court; Netanyahu expressed gratitude, and Netanyahu invited Johnson for a visit to Israel: 'We will lay out the red carpet.' Donald Trump commented on the results of the Gaza plan: 'Stability will prevail in the region.' The Israeli army is preparing a plan for the 'voluntary exit' of Palestinians from Gaza, and Netanyahu stated that Trump's plan for Gaza is 'remarkable.'
