Netanyahu Once Again Calls for a 'Credible Military Threat' Against the Islamic Republic

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, on Monday, during a meeting with a delegation of Democratic lawmakers, reiterated the need for a 'credible military threat' to deter the Islamic Republic's nuclear program. According to Netanyahu, 'The most important thing is to create a credible military threat against the Islamic Republic. The other issue is the use of it.' The Israeli Prime Minister continued, 'We do not want a world where Iran can threaten New York or Washington or Los Angeles... with nuclear weapons.' He noted, 'Certainly, we will not have a world where they can destroy Israel, which they call a one-bomb country. This is a hateful statement, but it tells you their intent.' Netanyahu emphasized, 'Regardless of any agreement, we will defend ourselves with everything we have.' Israeli officials have repeatedly stated their opposition to any agreement between world powers and the Islamic Republic regarding its nuclear program, asserting that they are not bound by any agreement in defense of their national interests and will act unilaterally against Iran if necessary. 24 Democratic lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives, led by Hakeem Jeffries and Steny Hoyer, have traveled to the region to meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders. Among the topics discussed during this trip are preventing the Islamic Republic from acquiring nuclear weapons, the two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, Netanyahu's proposed judicial reforms, and the development of the Abraham Accords. Japan has expressed concern over Iran's uranium enrichment program and the sending of drones to Russia. The U.S. and Israel discussed the threat from Hezbollah in Lebanon and Iran's destabilizing actions. The construction of a security wall on the Jordan border; Israel is countering arms smuggling from Iran. Concurrently, American fighter jets have arrived in the Middle East, and the CENTCOM commander visited Israel. The President of Israel also warned about Iran during a meeting with Kamala Harris.
