Netanyahu Reiterates Criticism of the U.S., Claims 'Differences' Over Arms Shipments to Israel Will Soon Be Resolved

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday once again criticized the reduction of arms shipments from the United States, but expressed belief that the disagreements with Washington over the process of sending weapons to Israeli forces fighting Hamas will soon be resolved. He had made a similar criticism last week, which was met with a response from the White House. The White House described the Israeli Prime Minister's remarks as 'disappointing' and emphasized that no country has worked as hard as the United States to assist Israel and will continue to do so. In this context, Ben Sabti, an expert on Israeli affairs, stated in an interview with the Persian section of Voice of America that 'the roots of these disagreements go back several months and even years, as Mr. Netanyahu believes that Democratic administrations do not favor his government.' He added, 'Democratic administrations in the U.S. also do not consider Netanyahu as their ally, as he has clearly supported Democratic candidates' rivals during certain periods.' This expert also noted that the prolonged war in Gaza is another reason for the increasing differences between the U.S. and Israeli governments, stating, 'Contrary to the enemies' thinking, the disagreement between the U.S. and Israel is not deep, and the United States remains Israel's main and serious supporter.' Netanyahu stated during a cabinet meeting that 'about four months ago, there was a significant reduction in the supply of arms from the United States to Israel. We provided all kinds of explanations, but there was no change in the situation.' President Joe Biden had previously stated on May 8 that the bombs whose shipment to Israel was suspended were being used to kill Palestinian civilians during the war in Gaza. The Israeli army claims to have destroyed a Hamas training complex in one of the areas of Rafah.
