Netanyahu Reiterates Israel's Role in Exposing Iran's Sabotage Attempts in Europe

In light of what Denmark has termed an 'Iranian terrorist plot' on its soil, which has led to a serious crisis between Iran and Denmark and heightened tensions in Tehran's relations with other Scandinavian countries, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that his country 'recently uncovered Iran's attempts at sabotage in Europe.' Several Israeli media outlets, including The Times of Israel, reported that Netanyahu stated on Thursday during his visit to Varna to meet with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov: 'The Iranian regime is the central force of radical Islam that tramples nations one after another, moving from Syria to Lebanon and Iraq and killing civilians around the world.' He added, 'A war is underway that is not just about our countries; it is also about our shared cultures and values.' Netanyahu warned his Bulgarian counterpart that Iran 'may carry out further attacks in Europe.' His recent statements provide clearer confirmation of reports published in Israeli media over the past two days. These reports cited Israeli officials stating that the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, provided information regarding the 'Iranian terrorist plot' to Denmark, and subsequent intelligence from the agency led to the arrest of an Iranian national residing in Norway in connection with this 'plot.' Denmark announced on Tuesday the arrest of an Iranian citizen of Norway, stating he was tasked with executing a 'murder' plan against an Iranian regime opponent residing in Denmark. According to reports, Denmark had been searching for this 'plotter' since at least September 28, over a month, and finally arrested him on October 21 with the help of Sweden in Gothenburg, where he is now in custody. Reports from Danish and Norwegian media indicate that the arrested individual, who is 39 years old and whose name has not yet been disclosed, had taken photographs from the area where Habib Jaber, a member of the 'Ahwaz Front,' an Arab separatist group opposed to the Iranian regime, resides in Denmark. Israeli media reported that Israel obtained this information based on materials published on 'networks,' apparently referring to the internet. This incident has severely impacted Iran's relations with Denmark; the Danish ambassador has returned to his country; foreign ministers from five Scandinavian countries condemned Iran on Wednesday; Norway also summoned the Iranian ambassador on Thursday, and recent evidence suggests that at the request of the Danish Prime Minister, the European Union will soon consider imposing sanctions against Iran in this regard. Iran has strongly denied these accusations and urged Denmark to 'wisely' prevent the destruction of the good relations between the two countries. Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iran's foreign minister, tweeted on Thursday, referencing Mossad's role in these allegations, mentioning dates in recent months that have been significant for Iran in advancing and maintaining the JCPOA, and suddenly announcing the 'discovery of terrorism' by Iran in Europe. Zarif emphasized that Mossad's goal is to 'finish off the JCPOA.'
