Netanyahu to Macron: Restrictions Against Israel Benefit the Iranian Regime

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, said in a phone call with Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, that imposing restrictions against Israel benefits the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxy groups. Macron had stated on Saturday that to find a political solution to the war, the export of weapons used in Gaza to Israel must be stopped. According to a statement from Netanyahu's office, he told Macron during the call: 'Just as [the Iranian regime] supports all members of its terrorist axis, friends of Israel are expected to support Israel and not impose restrictions that will only strengthen the Iranian axis of evil.' The statement added: 'The Prime Minister [Netanyahu] emphasized that Israel's actions against Hezbollah create an opportunity for changing the situation in Lebanon towards better stability, security, and peace in the entire region.' The leaders of the two countries agreed to continue discussions on this matter during the visit of Jean-Noël Barrot, the French Foreign Minister, to Israel on Monday. The senior French diplomat is on a four-day trip to the Middle East. Paris, in line with the United States and other Western countries, is trying to prevent the spread of the war in Gaza throughout the Middle East. The phone call between Netanyahu and Macron coincided with speculation about a possible Israeli attack against the Iranian regime in response to last week's missile attack by the Islamic Republic on Israel. The Iranian regime fired 180 ballistic missiles towards Israel in this attack, which Israeli officials stated that 90% of them were intercepted before hitting Israeli territory, and the remaining 10% caused no significant damage or casualties. Meanwhile, the Iranian regime had also fired over 320 ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones towards Israel on the night of April 14 this year, the majority of which were intercepted by a coalition consisting of Israel, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Jordan before reaching Israel. The President of Israel called for a 'uprising' of the Iranian people against the Islamic Republic. All flights in Iran were canceled from 9 PM on Sunday night. An Israeli official did not rule out the possibility of an attack on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities. Gallant warned the Iranian regime: 'You may face the fate of Gaza and Beirut.' Israel continues its attacks on Hezbollah targets in southern Beirut after two missiles were fired at northern Israel.
