Netanyahu to Trump: We Decide Based on Israel's Interests

The Israeli Prime Minister's Office announced on Sunday, October 21, that Benjamin Netanyahu, in a phone call with former U.S. President Donald Trump and Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential election, stated that Israel considers the issues raised by the U.S. government but ultimately makes decisions based on national interests. Two days earlier, Joe Biden, the President of the United States, said he was informed about the timing and manner of Israel's response to the Islamic Republic's missile attacks. Biden, speaking to reporters at the end of his visit to Berlin, Germany, emphasized the existence of an opportunity to resolve the issues between the Islamic Republic and Israel and potentially end their conflicts in the Middle East. He added that 'an opportunity has arisen' that 'we may be able to resolve the Iran-Israel issue in a way that the conflicts in the Middle East come to an end for a while.' The U.S. President clarified that this way 'the conflict ends and, in other words, reciprocal reactions cease.' On April 14, the Islamic Republic of Iran launched an unprecedented attack, firing about 320 projectiles towards Israel, the vast majority of which were intercepted and destroyed by a coalition consisting of the U.S., Britain, France, Jordan, and Israel before reaching Israeli airspace. On September 30, the Iranian government also fired over 180 ballistic missiles at Israel in response to what it called the killing of Hamas, Hezbollah leaders, and a senior commander of the Quds Force by Israel. Senior Israeli officials have stated that they will not leave this attack by the Islamic Republic unanswered. Pentagon investigations regarding the 'leak' of classified documents on 'Israeli attack plans' on Telegram, an analytical report by AFP about the 'dual strategy' of the Iranian government towards Israel, the Israeli Energy Minister stating that what enemies have seen is less than ten percent of our capabilities, the option of attacking Iran's nuclear facilities is on the table, Biden stating that we are aware of the timing and manner of Israel's attack on the Islamic Republic, and Reuters reporting that Israel is determined to achieve its 'strategic goals' before the U.S. elections.
