Netanyahu: We are committed to preventing the expansion of Iran's regime territory

Israeli Prime Minister emphasized that Iranian forces "must leave Syria, Yemen, and Iraq and stop warmongering and spreading misery" stating, "We are committed to preventing the expansion of Iran's regime territory." Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on his Persian Twitter account on Thursday, October 11, that "President Trump has repeatedly reiterated this commitment" and "has supported Israel's right to defend itself against the aggressive behavior of the Iranian regime in Syria." Donald Trump, the U.S. President, has often referred to Iran as a source of instability in the region and the world, and his administration officials have also emphasized the need for Iranian forces to exit Syria and Israel's right to self-defense. Additionally, in the "National Strategy for Counterterrorism" document released by the Trump administration last week, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its proxy groups, which are destabilizing regions such as Iraq, Lebanon, Palestinian territories, Syria, and Yemen, are repeatedly mentioned as threats to the United States. Netanyahu's government has repeatedly stated that it considers the presence and expansion of Iranian influence near Israel's borders a significant security threat and will not accept it under any circumstances. On Thursday, he also referred to the presence of an American missile destroyer docked in Ashdod, Israel, as a "symbol of U.S. support for Israel." According to Netanyahu's Persian Twitter account, he stated during his visit to the destroyer, "We are determined to defend ourselves against the military establishment of the Iranian regime in Syria and the actions of their proxy forces... President Trump has fully supported our policy, and the presence of this destroyer here today is a symbol of American support." The U.S. State Department recently reported that the Islamic Republic of Iran has spent $16 billion since 2012 to support Bashar al-Assad and its allied groups in Yemen and Iraq. Iran, which considers its presence in Syria "legal" and "at the invitation of the Bashar al-Assad government," has not yet responded to Netanyahu's recent statements. In recent months, the confrontation between Iran and Israel, which have hostile relations, has escalated into military confrontations, with Israel frequently reporting attacks on Islamic Republic positions in Syria. IRGC officials have also mentioned attacks on targets in Israeli territory. About two weeks ago, Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, emphasized that Iran and Israel should engage in dialogue, stating that his country would be happy to host such negotiations.
