Netanyahu's Call for Israeli Citizens to Stand Firm Against the 'Axis of Evil' of the Islamic Republic

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, on Tuesday, October 2, emphasized the country's campaign against the 'Axis of Evil' of the Islamic Republic of Iran, calling for unity and resilience among Israeli citizens in the challenging days ahead. Netanyahu reminded of Israel's 'great achievements and severe challenges' and reiterated the country's determination to safely return residents of northern Israel to their homes. He expressed hope that through Israel's resilience and struggle, the country would achieve victory. Earlier, on Monday, October 1, in a 'direct and unmediated' message to the 'people of Iran,' Netanyahu stated that Israel stands with them and that when Iran is 'freed much sooner than everyone thinks,' everything will be 'different.' He urged the Iranian people not to let a small group of 'fanatical clerics' crush their hopes and dreams, emphasizing that the people of Iran, their children, and the entire world 'deserve better than this.' Netanyahu also pointed out the support of the leaders of the Islamic Republic for 'the aggressors and murderers of Hamas and Hezbollah,' asserting that he knows the Iranian people do not support these groups and stated: 'The people of Iran should know that Israel supports you.' An Israeli army spokesperson on Tuesday, October 2, announced that the country has not identified any aerial threats from the Islamic Republic and emphasized that Israel's air defense systems are fully prepared. The spokesperson also warned about the consequences of any attack by the Islamic Republic on Israel. Moments before the Israeli army spokesperson's remarks, a senior White House official stated that based on indications received, the Islamic Republic of Iran is preparing for an imminent missile attack on Israel. A U.S. military official reported the possibility of a ballistic missile attack by the Islamic Republic on Israel within the next 12 hours after dark in the region. According to this unnamed military official, the Islamic Republic may use drones and cruise missiles in this attack, similar to the April attack, which was almost completely neutralized. On the other hand, Kamel Panahasi, the spokesperson for the Israeli army, in a video message regarding the U.S. warning about a potential Iranian attack, stated that 'at this stage, we do not identify any threat fired from Iran' and 'we have faced such a threat in the past and will confront it now as well.' He also emphasized that 'we are fully prepared for attack and defense,' adding: 'Our air defense systems are fully ready, and Air Force fighters are currently patrolling the skies; however, no defense is completely impenetrable. Therefore, we must continue to heed the instructions of the rear command.' Verbal tensions between Israeli and Iranian officials have increased following the removal of Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah Lebanon. Hezbollah Lebanon was established in 1982 by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Several countries, including the United States, Israel, Germany, Serbia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Australia, have recognized the group as a terrorist organization. Recognizing Hezbollah Lebanon as a terrorist organization means not distinguishing between its political and military branches and labeling both as terrorists. Over the past year, following the deadly terrorist attack on October 7, 2023, by Hamas on Israel, Hezbollah has targeted northern Israel with its rocket and missile attacks. Hamas, another proxy group supported by the Iranian government, massacred at least 1,200 citizens of Israel, including women, children, and the elderly, during the terrorist attack on October 7, and took over 250 others hostage. This group is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Israel, Canada, Japan, and several other countries.
