Netanyahu's Response to Biden's Note: The Palestinian Authority Lacks the Ability to Manage Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a press conference on Saturday, reacted to Joe Biden's article in the Washington Post, stating that the Palestinian Authority, in its current form, lacks the capability to manage Gaza. Joe Biden, the President of the United States, emphasized in his article published on Saturday that Gaza and the West Bank should ultimately be revitalized and unified under the management of the Palestinian Authority after the war between Israel and Hamas ends. Netanyahu further criticized Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the Palestinian Authority, for not condemning the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, claiming that some of Abbas's senior ministers celebrated the attack. Netanyahu also referred to the historical problems Palestinians have with Israel and their indoctrination of hatred from childhood, stating, 'How can we hand over Gaza's governance to those who teach their children to hate Judaism after this battle?' In his article, Joe Biden considered the two-state solution as the only resolution to the conflict in the region, noting that 'Gaza and the West Bank must be united under a single governmental structure, ultimately revitalized under a Palestinian Authority, to achieve the two-state solution.' On Thursday, November 9, Netanyahu stated that his country does not seek to capture, occupy, or administer the Gaza Strip after the war against Hamas, but added that if necessary, to prevent terrorist threats, 'a credible force' must be present in the region. Earlier, Netanyahu's remarks that Israel would be responsible for Gaza's security drew a response from the United States. Netanyahu claims that hostages held by Hamas were kept in the Shifa Hospital in Gaza. The verbal clash between Erdogan and Netanyahu continues; Erdogan called Israel a terrorist state, while Netanyahu accused him of supporting Hamas.
