New Charges Against Tina Deljou and Her Return to Lakan Prison in Rasht

"Bidarzani", a media outlet representing a "group of women's rights activists", reported that Tina Deljou, after facing new charges from the Rasht Intelligence Department, turned herself in to Lakan Prison in Rasht on December 12 to serve a 7-month sentence. According to "Bidarzani", Tina Deljou, a civil activist residing in Rasht, had previously been sentenced to one year in prison with an electronic ankle bracelet for the charge of "propaganda against the regime". She is now facing two additional "cases" and a raid by security forces on her home. In one of these cases, she was sentenced to an additional 7 months in prison for "spreading falsehoods", and her electronic devices were confiscated during a raid by government agents on December 6. The sentence for her electronic ankle bracelet ended on October 30, 2024, however, on November 7, 2024, she was sentenced to serve a second term. Tina Deljou, a political and social activist, university lecturer, and a graduate in political science, was first arrested in the summer of 2023. On January 29, 2024, she was transferred to Lakan Prison in Rasht with a 9-month sentence for "propaganda against the regime" and was imprisoned there for 40 days before being released with an electronic ankle bracelet.
