New Details on the Arrest of an Israeli for Alleged Collaboration with Iranian Regime Agents

Israeli officials have released new details regarding the case of an Israeli citizen from the city of Nof HaGalil, who is in custody on charges of carrying out missions on behalf of the Islamic Republic and committing sabotage. According to the Times of Israel, the Shin Bet security service and police announced that the suspect, 33-year-old Artyom Zolotarev, was arrested in November on suspicion of 'committing security crimes related to Iranian intelligence officials and carrying out security missions in Israel under their guidance for financial gain.' Investigations revealed that Zolotarev had graffiti slogans against the government in the cities of Nof HaGalil, Haifa, and Migdal HaEmek, and set a vehicle on fire in Haifa. He had contacted an online individual operating under the name 'Eliad' and had carried out missions such as writing anti-government slogans and sending videos of these activities to this person. In return for these actions, he received $2,800 in cryptocurrency. According to the statement, Zolotarev later realized that Eliad was an agent of the Iranian government, especially after refusing to carry out missions such as photographing residential buildings and electrical transformers and listening to news reports about other espionage cases related to the Iranian government. Investigations indicated that Zolotarev was offered $125,000 to kill someone and then be smuggled to Russia or Iran, but he rejected this offer. He also set another vehicle on fire in Haifa at the request of Iranian regime agents and received $2,000 for this act. The Shin Bet security service announced that a prosecution against Zolotarev has been filed in the Nazareth District Court on charges of connections with foreign agents, arson, and sabotage. Previously, on Friday, December 7, the Israeli police announced that a father and son from the Druze village of Mas'ade in the Golan Heights had been accused of spying for the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Israeli internal security service (Shin Bet) and police arrested 21-year-old Tahir Safadi and 43-year-old Bassam Safadi in November on suspicion of spying for Iran during the ongoing war.
