New Features and Innovations in Apple's Latest Phones

Ten years after the introduction of Apple's first mobile phone, the iPhone, which created a storm in the technology world, everyone was waiting for the introduction of new Apple products. Consequently, Apple introduced the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X. These phones can be attractive products in the market due to advancements in artificial intelligence, augmented reality, machine learning capabilities, processing power, and the integration of innovations from other companies into a single product. However, it is worth noting that during the unveiling of the iPhone X, the face recognition system did not function properly. Initially, Apple introduced the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, which may not be considered entirely new products but rather developed versions of the iPhone 7. The most significant change in the regular iPhone 8 and Plus is the use of Apple's new A11 processor. This six-core processor is Apple's trump card against all competitors in the market. Almost all Android phone manufacturers worldwide use Qualcomm products, with the latest processor being the Snapdragon 835, which is also used in Samsung's new product line. However, Apple uses its own processors in this market segment. The A11 processor is a six-core chip with 4.3 billion transistors and is currently regarded as the strongest processor in mobile phones. In simple terms, processing power has increased by up to 70% in some tasks and up to 30% in others compared to the previous generation. This processor has 2 powerful cores that operate 25% faster than the previous generation, and 4 low-power cores that process tasks about 75% faster than the low-power cores of the A10. Geekbench benchmark results show that Apple's A11 chip has a significant advantage over the Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895. But what power will this increased processing capability give to Apple phones? 3D face scanning, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and machine learning require significantly more processing power, which current generations of processors are unable to provide. The new generation of Apple processors will provide this power to the company's products. This processor can process 600 billion operations per second. Beyond this processor, there have not been fundamental changes in other areas compared to the iPhone 7. The iPhone 8 still uses a 12-megapixel sensor, while the iPhone 8 Plus continues to use a combination of two 12-megapixel sensors on the back. One sensor has a wide lens with an f/1.8 aperture, and the other has a telephoto lens with an f/2.8 aperture. According to Apple's claims, the highest quality video recording in mobile cameras is available through the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. These phones can record video at 60 frames per second in 4K resolution. Slow-motion recording is also possible in Full HD resolution at 240 frames per second. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus now support wireless charging due to their glass bodies. However, wireless charging was previously used by companies like LG and Samsung, so it cannot be considered an innovation. The iPhone X, in contrast to the iPhone 8, can be considered a completely new product. Visual changes in this phone include a reduced display bezel and the removal of the home button, which had previously been used by Samsung. In this regard, the iPhone X can be seen as following Samsung's lead, but where Apple has innovated again is in the removal of the fingerprint sensor and the unlocking of the phone through user face recognition. Due to the edge-to-edge display of the iPhone X, there is no place for a conventional home button, which is why a highly complex face recognition system has replaced it. This system, called Face ID, has replaced the Touch ID sensor located in the home button. The new face recognition capability has been made possible through new cameras and processing systems. Apple has named this new camera TrueDepth. This camera scans the user's face in 3D, and according to artificial intelligence algorithms and machine learning capabilities, it can recognize the owner even if the user grows a beard or wears glasses. The new face recognition system uses two conventional cameras, an infrared system, a depth sensor, and a dot projector to recognize and create an image of people's faces. As Apple claims, this system 'cannot be fooled' and cannot be unlocked with a mask or a photo resembling the user. According to Apple's claims, the likelihood of another person accessing the smartphone is one in a million, which is much more accurate than Touch ID. According to Apple's estimates, this probability for Touch ID is one in 50,000. Apple states that when you look at the iPhone X, 30,000 invisible infrared dots are projected onto your face, and your facial pattern is matched with what has been recorded, and then the phone will unlock. However, during the unveiling, an incident occurred that made this system somewhat controversial. The issue was that the system did not work correctly during the demonstration on stage, prompting Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of software engineering, to use another iPhone. After Federighi attempted to use the iPhone X's face recognition system, it encountered a problem, and the iPhone quickly displayed the screen for entering a password to access the iPhone. Federighi quickly grabbed another iPhone and demonstrated the face recognition system's functionality using it. The iPhone X also uses the A11 processor, like the iPhone 8. Another point in this phone is the use of an OLED display, which not only reduces consumption but also enhances quality. The resolution of this 5.8-inch display is 2436 by 1125 pixels. The pixel density in this display is 458 pixels per inch. The back and front of the iPhone X are made of glass and will be available in gray and silver colors. The iPhone X is water and dust resistant. In the iPhone X, the two rear camera lenses have been arranged vertically instead of horizontally as in the iPhone 8 and 7. The iPhone X uses a pair of 12-megapixel sensors on the back, both of which have optical image stabilization. Both sensors have become larger and faster, with one having a wide lens with an f/1.8 aperture and the other a telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture. A quad-LED flash is positioned between the two sensors. What has become controversial beyond the technical specifications for Apple's new products is the price of these new products. Criticism of Apple, which is said to only care about profit in its new products, has increased, suggesting that it creates products that only wealthy individuals can afford. This criticism has increased as it has been revealed that the price of the 256GB model of the iPhone X is over $1200, which is more expensive than 80% of laptops in the world. Therefore, Apple only mentioned that the price of this product starts at $999 for the 64GB version during the iPhone X unveiling. The price of the iPhone 8 starts at $699, and the iPhone 8 Plus starts at $799 with 64GB of memory. In response to criticisms of the high prices of its new products, Apple announced that it currently has cheaper products for users in various segments. The company stated that the iPhone SE is priced at $349, the iPhone 6S at $449, and the iPhone 7 at $549 will still be sold alongside the release of newer products. In the Iranian market, users also face a serious challenge in using Apple's new products, as Apple has recently begun removing many Persian and Iranian applications, making it very difficult to install these apps through other means.
