New Invention by the US Army: 'Self-Targeting Bullets'

The United States Army has announced that it has successfully tested a type of 'smart bullet.' According to CNN, the Army confirmed that it conducted the most successful test of these 50-caliber smart bullets two months ago. The new smart bullets, known as 'Execto,' are equipped with a type of optical sensor that accurately hits moving or evasive targets after being fired. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) stated that an experienced professional shooter was used in the tests of the smart bullets, and this individual was able to hit all designated targets with the smart bullets. In a statement released by the agency, it was mentioned that 'in the next phase, a novice shooter also successfully hit moving targets using the smart bullets.' CNN further reported, 'In other words, if this new product is mass-produced, you no longer need to be a skilled shooter for your shot to hit the target!' The United States Army described this new invention as a 'great achievement' that the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has managed to deliver. Jerome Dunn, the agency's program manager, stated: 'In line with the agency's assigned goals, the Execto bullet has achieved what was previously deemed impossible: continuous guidance of a low-caliber bullet to reach its target.' Mr. Dunn added: 'This live-fire demonstration showed that the Execto bullet can hit moving and evasive targets with extraordinary accuracy. Execto can accurately strike targets at distances where conventional bullets cannot. This product incorporates its guidance capabilities into a small 50-caliber bullet, which is a fundamental achievement that paves the way for new possibilities in the future for bullets of various calibers.' According to the Daily Mail, the manufacturer of the Execto bullet announced that this bullet 'is equipped with a guidance system that enables tracking and hitting the target. This smart bullet can significantly improve shooting accuracy by calculating the best trajectory considering weather conditions, wind, target movement, and other factors.' In addition to the above, the Execto bullet also increases the range of snipers several times. Currently, American snipers must be able to hit targets at 600 meters with 90% accuracy, but according to the Execto manufacturers, with the use of the new bullet, this distance will increase from 600 meters to 2000 meters.
