New Plan by Head of Islamic Propagation Organization for Students: We Bring the Quran into Their Daily Lives

The head of the Islamic Propagation Organization has spoken about a plan titled 'Mastoura' for students during Ramadan, which requires them to memorize the Quran. He emphasized that the implementation of this plan will not end with Ramadan and that efforts will continue to integrate 'the Quran into the daily lives of students.' Mohammad Qomi stressed that 'our emphasis is on bringing the Quran into the activities and lives of students.' Education experts believe that the statements of the head of the Islamic Propagation Organization are actually a continuation of the actions of the Ministry of Education, which is revising and making extensive ideological changes to textbooks at the request of Ali Khamenei. Accordingly, the head of the Research and Educational Planning Organization announced on December 7 that the Islamic Republic's plan for content changes in textbooks has been finalized and will be experimentally implemented for first graders starting from the beginning of October 2024. Experts believe that with the approach the Islamic Republic has taken in the field of education and the prevailing atmosphere in society, we should expect an increasing rupture in the educational system. Analysts consider 'Generation Z' to be the main actors in Iranian society, and since their demands and approaches have no relevance to the desires and aspirations of policymakers, any deviation from their wishes is deemed destined for failure. In this context, some experts believe that the Islamic Republic is attempting to suppress the current 'Generation Z' to shape future generations according to its own directives. This approach was clearly evident in the statements of the Director General of 'Witness and Veterans Affairs' at the Ministry of Education in February 2023. Zahra Panahi Rava stated, 'The promotion of the culture of martyrdom in schools has begun, and the content of textbooks will also change in this regard.'
