New Series Project About the Iranian Royal Family Launched

The artistic website 'Variety' reported the launch of a new series project about the reign of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi. This drama series is titled 'The Shah, the Spy, the Madman' and depicts aspects of the tumultuous life of the Iranian royal family. According to Variety, the direction of this work, produced by 'Kaspian Pictures', will be jointly handled by Tina Gharavi and Shahryar William Raei, the creator of the series. Tina Gharavi, an Iranian-American filmmaker, has a diverse portfolio, including the series 'Queen Cleopatra' on the streaming platform 'Netflix'. Niousha Noor, an Iranian-American actress, will also be one of the producers of this series. As reported by Variety, 'The Shah, the Spy, the Madman' is expected to enter pre-production by the end of this calendar year, followed by the production of a pilot episode and the first season. No further details about the cast, crew, and contributors have been announced yet. According to Variety, the first season will focus on events from the 1950s, such as the attempts to overthrow the Shah, the ousting of Mohammad Mossadegh, the Prime Minister, and the confrontation with the influence of the former Soviet Union in Iran. The continuation of the story is planned for two subsequent seasons. The series, which structurally resembles 'The Crown', is said to address other events in later seasons, such as the 2500-year celebrations and the 1979 Revolution. The producers state that the goal of this series is to provide an accurate, impartial, and candid portrayal of the Shah's life and the impact of external factors on Iran during his reign. 'The Shah, the Spy, the Madman' is the third project about the reign of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi that has recently been announced.
