Nika Shakeri's Sister: The Extent of the Islamic Republic's Crimes is Much Broader Than What Has Been Revealed So Far

Aida Shakeri, the sister of Nika Shakeri who has recently left Iran, wrote in a series of tweets: "The extent of the Islamic Republic's crimes during the 1401 protests is much broader than what has been revealed so far." On the eve of September 25, the anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death in custody of the morality police and the beginning of widespread protests in Iran, Nika's sister revealed that at the time of identifying Nika's body at the forensic office, she witnessed many cases of teenage girls and young women who had been killed. She pointed out the "large number of casualties" coinciding with Nika's murder, considering her sister's case as only one of "at least a hundred similar cases in that area of Tehran" and emphasized that "many of these victims were never identified and their families remain unaware of their fate." Nika Shakeri's sister also accused the Islamic Republic of destroying the lives of countless families and forcing them into silence, noting: "Islamic Republic officials have fabricated cases against survivors who have sought justice." She warned that the bloodshed and destroyed lives caused by the Islamic Republic will one day drown this regime. Nika Shakeri, born on October 1, 2005, was kidnapped by several members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on September 20, 2022, after actively participating in the 1401 uprising in Iran, subjected to sexual assault and torture, and ultimately murdered. According to recorded footage from September 20, 2022, Nika Shakeri was actively participating in protests, such as burning hijabs and chanting slogans. BBC World reported in May 2023 that it had obtained evidence indicating that Nika was killed with a baton by three members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps after being sexually assaulted and beaten in a refrigerated truck. The release of an audio file of Nika Shakeri singing the song "Sultan-e Ghalb-ha" and a short video of Nika Shakeri, the killed protester in the 1401 protests, has been shared.
