This statement from a Russian official contrasts with remarks made yesterday by British Prime Minister Tony Blair, suggesting that Moscow had promised to halt fuel deliveries until Iran implements the regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a UN agency. Iran denies the accusations made by the United States against the Islamic Republic, claiming that it is engaged in the production of nuclear weapons, asserting that its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes. Iranian officials state that Iran's nuclear programs are currently under the control of the IAEA. The United States insists that no country should assist the Islamic Republic of Iran in its nuclear plans unless Iran accepts and complies with all the regulations and requirements of the IAEA, including the condition of inspections on short notice. The IAEA is expected to release its report on Iran's nuclear programs at the end of this month.
