Obama to Iran: Missile Tests Worry Investors

Barack Obama, the President of the United States, said on Friday that the process of foreign investment in Iran has been 'slow' since the JCPOA, and that Iran must demonstrate that it has created a secure environment for business. According to the Associated Press and Deutsche Presse-Agentur, Mr. Obama made this statement on Friday, April 1, during the fourth Nuclear Security Summit in Washington. The U.S. President added that Iran has so far been faithful to the terms of the nuclear agreement, but some of its other actions are not in line with the 'spirit' of this agreement. Barack Obama explained that the Islamic Republic is engaging in 'a range of provocative actions,' including 'testing ballistic missiles, chanting anti-Israeli slogans, and sending missiles to Hezbollah in Lebanon,' which makes potential investors 'worried.' Mr. Obama emphasized that many international companies, having been away from Iran for a long time, now need to feel comfortable in the Iranian environment to return. He stressed, 'Iran must understand that traders go to places where they feel secure. When Iran sends missiles to Hezbollah and threatens Israel, it creates a geopolitical risk that is exacerbated by these actions.' At the same time, the U.S. President referred to the nuclear agreement with Iran as a 'success' and a model for future diplomacy. Other parts of Barack Obama's remarks at the summit were related to the nuclear threat posed by terrorist groups and related issues.
