Obama: Trump's Remarks on Election Outcome are Dangerous

The President of the United States, Barack Obama, stated that Donald Trump's recent comments, in which he said he would only accept the election results if he wins, are "dangerous" and undermine democracy in America. During a speech in Miami, Florida, on October 21, Obama remarked, "These words are dangerous because when you plant seeds of doubt and skepticism in people's minds, you weaken our democracy. You end up doing the work of our enemies for them." Donald Trump, the Republican nominee in the upcoming presidential election, has said he will only accept the results of the election on November 8 if he is declared the winner. This statement has drawn reactions from several prominent Republican figures, including Senator John McCain, who, despite being a staunch critic of Obama's policies and having run against him, stated that accepting election results is an American tradition and not related to personal feelings about a rival. Trump had previously avoided discussing this matter during his third debate with Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, and his recent comments came a day after that debate during a campaign rally. Obama has consistently expressed his strong support for Clinton since the beginning of her campaign against Trump and has occasionally criticized Trump's statements. In recent days, Trump has raised issues such as "fraud" and "manipulation" in the elections. Some American media outlets suggest that these comments come as Trump's chances in the polls are declining. Critics from the Democratic Party and Trump supporters also claim that major U.S. media outlets are all supporting Clinton, which they see as a form of "shaping" public opinion. Even Mike Pence, Trump's vice president, while criticizing the media, has not directly mentioned "fraud" and manipulation in the voting process. This election does not have a direct form, and the president is not elected based solely on the total popular votes cast in the ballot boxes. States have a number of representatives known as "electors." The number of these "electors" is equal to the number of representatives each state sends to the U.S. House of Representatives and is determined based on the population of each state; for example, the populous state of California has 55 "electors," while Alaska, due to its population, has 3 "electors." Each candidate who receives a majority of votes in a state gets all the votes from that state. In total, there are 538 "electors" from all states and territories in the U.S. A candidate can reach the White House by securing at least 270 "electoral votes."
