One Day After the Warning from the European Troika; The Islamic Republic Announced the Launch of a Satellite and Two Nanosatellites

One day after the three European powers involved in the JCPOA issued a joint statement condemning the launch of the Soraya satellite using the Qaim 100 rocket, Iranian media reported the launch of three new satellites. The Mehr news agency wrote that a lightweight satellite from the Iranian Space Research Institute and the nanosatellites Kayan 2 and Hatif 1 from the Sa Iran company's cubic satellite series were launched into space. Yesterday, Britain, France, and Germany announced that the Qaim 100 rocket utilizes technology essential for developing long-range ballistic missile systems, indicating Iran's disregard for the limitations imposed by the United Nations. In the conclusion of their joint statement, Britain, Germany, and France emphasized their commitment to taking all 'diplomatic steps' to prevent the Islamic Republic from developing nuclear weapons and holding the Iranian government accountable for all its 'destabilizing' activities in the region and the world. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed on Saturday, January 30, that it successfully placed the 'Soraya' satellite into a 750-kilometer orbit around the Earth. This action is believed by the three European countries involved in the JCPOA to enable the testing of technology necessary for further development of Iran's ballistic missile program. Concerns over the development of the Islamic Republic's missile programs and the potential threat they pose to regional and global countries have led the United States to take preventive measures against these programs. Accordingly, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Treasury Department announced on Wednesday, October 26, sanctions against 11 individuals, eight entities, and one ship due to their involvement in the destabilizing ballistic missile and drone programs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The U.S. State Department stated in a written response to Voice of America on Wednesday, October 26, that 'under the Biden administration, the United States has taken numerous actions to address Iran's nuclear program, the development and proliferation of missiles and drones, financing of terrorism, and other concerning and destabilizing behaviors both domestically, regionally, and globally.' Although the Islamic Republic claims it has no intention of building nuclear weapons and describes its nuclear program as peaceful, the European Troika believes that the Islamic Republic's ballistic missile program and these missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads represent 'a significant threat to regional and global security.'
