One of the Leaders of 'Huras al-Din' Killed in US Airstrike in Northern Syria

US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces killed a senior leader of the terrorist group 'Huras al-Din', affiliated with Al-Qaeda, in a precise airstrike in northwestern Syria. The strike, carried out on February 21, resulted in the death of 'Wassim Tahseen Bayraktar', a senior leader and operational facilitator of this terrorist group. According to a statement released by CENTCOM, this operation is part of their ongoing commitment, along with regional partners, to weaken and eliminate the capabilities of terrorists to plan, organize, and execute attacks against civilians and US military forces, as well as allies and partners in the region and beyond. General Michael Eric Kurilla, the commander of CENTCOM, emphasized the continuation of these operations, stating, 'We will relentlessly pursue and eliminate terrorist threats, regardless of their location, to protect the security of our country, allies, and partners.' Huras al-Din, recognized as a branch of Al-Qaeda in Syria, has been active in the northwestern regions of the country for years and has been responsible for several attacks against civilian and military targets in the area. The US has previously participated in targeted airstrikes against leaders of Al-Qaeda and its affiliated groups in Syria, including Huras al-Din.
