One of the Suspects in the London Attacks was a 'Known Extremist'

British police have revealed the identities of two suspects involved in the deadly London attacks. One of these individuals, named Khuram Shazad Butt, is a 27-year-old known extremist whose actions had raised the suspicions of one of his neighbors. The London attacks were carried out by three assailants who first drove a vehicle into pedestrians on London Bridge and then attacked people with knives in a nearby area. A total of seven people lost their lives and nearly 50 were injured. The three attackers were shot down by police eight minutes after their arrival. Scotland Yard has disclosed the names of two of the suspects from Saturday night's attacks: Khuram Shazad Butt, 27, born in Pakistan and residing in East London, and Rashid Redwan, 30, about whom little information is currently available. Khuram Butt had previously appeared in a documentary titled 'The Jihadi Neighbor' on a British network last year. The Associated Press reports that his neighbors recognized his face from the footage they had seen and recalled that he had been seen holding a black flag with white Arabic letters resembling the flag of the so-called 'Islamic State' during a ceremony around the largest mosque in London. The group known as the Islamic State claims that a 'unit' of theirs carried out the London attacks. British security officials are still investigating how the London attackers operated. The Associated Press also states that one of Khuram Butt's neighbors contacted the police nearly 18 months ago and reported seeing him discussing his 'extremist beliefs' with several neighborhood children. The second attacker whose identity has been revealed, Rashid Redwan, also used the surname Al-Khadr and claimed to be Moroccan and Libyan. According to police officials, he used two different birth dates, one indicating he was 25 years old and the other indicating he was 30. The identity of the third attacker has not yet been disclosed. Flowers and messages from the public were placed near one of the areas where the attacks occurred on Saturday night. Government officials say that of the nearly 50 people injured in the London attacks, 36 are still hospitalized, and the condition of 18 of them remains critical. On Monday, a memorial service for the victims was held at Field Park, near London Bridge. The London police also conducted a new operation related to the Saturday night incident on the same day and arrested an unspecified number of individuals.
