One-Year Sentence for Samaneh Asghari, Child Rights Activist

Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced Samaneh Asghari, a child rights activist, to one year in prison. According to the Telegram channel 'Committee for Following Up on the Status of Detainees', this one-year sentence is preliminary. Samaneh Asghari was arrested for the second time on Thursday, September 14, 2023, coinciding with the anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death, during a raid by security forces at her home and was transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison. She was released on October 4, 2023, after posting a bail of one billion tomans. This child rights activist was arrested on October 11, 2022, at the beginning of the 'Women, Life, Freedom' movement amidst widespread arrests of civil activists and spent over six months in prison.
