Opponents of the Islamic Republic Threatened with 'Death' at Raisi's Memorial in America

Opponents of the Islamic Republic present at the memorial for Ebrahim Raisi, the former president of Iran, in the United States claim that 'affiliates of the Islamic Republic' have threatened them 'with death.' Siamak Aram, a political activist opposed to the Islamic Republic and a faculty member at Harrisburg University, posted videos on Saturday, June 25, showing supporters of the Iranian government on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating: 'This incident occurred on May 22, 2024, on U.S. soil, in Maryland, just minutes away from the White House, the State Department, and Congress.' Mr. Aram continued, 'They are still thirsty for more bloodshed among the people of Iran, even outside of Iran. Their threats must stop.' The images released by this political activist and the group 'National Solidarity for Iran' show several supporters of the Islamic Republic near a gathering of Iranians residing in Washington to commemorate the death of Ebrahim Raisi. Among them, a man next to a police officer repeatedly gestures towards specific individuals in the opposition crowd, placing his hand on his neck as a sign of threat to 'death,' an act interpreted as a beheading gesture. Siamak Aram stated in his tweet: 'All available footage and information have been sent to the relevant authorities.' This threat comes after images circulated on social media last Friday showing an 'attack' by supporters of the Islamic Republic present at the Iranian embassy in London against opponents of the regime. The London police announced hours after this clash that four people were injured and one person was arrested. Ebrahim Raisi, the eighth president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, died in a plane crash on Sunday evening, May 19, while returning from the inauguration of the 'Qiz Qaleh' dam in the Varzeqan region of East Azerbaijan province, along with seven others. He had been active in the judiciary of the Islamic Republic during the 1980s and was one of the four members of the death committee in the summer of 1988. According to Amnesty International, thousands of political prisoners serving their sentences were executed during the summer of 1988.
