Organization 'Alliance Against a Nuclear Iran': Western Company Provides Services to Sanctioned Iranian Oil Company

The organization 'Alliance Against a Nuclear Iran' claims to have evidence of a commercial relationship worth over half a million dollars annually between a Western company and the 'National Petrochemical Company of Iran', which is under U.S. sanctions. The National Petrochemical Company of Iran is sanctioned by the U.S. due to its financial support for the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and also as a branch of Iran's Ministry of Oil under secondary U.S. sanctions. The Alliance Against a Nuclear Iran, an American NGO opposed to the revival of the JCPOA and advocating for increased sanctions against the Islamic Republic, stated that this relationship is between the London office of 'LexisNexis' and the National Petrochemical Company of Iran. This American organization claims to have asked LexisNexis to clarify whether it provided services to the National Petrochemical Company of Iran in exchange for £487,662 from November 2022 to November 2023. The Alliance Against a Nuclear Iran states that LexisNexis has not been able to clarify its involvement in this business relationship more than a month after receiving evidence related to its commercial ties with the National Petrochemical Company of Iran. Officials from the Alliance Against a Nuclear Iran say that if LexisNexis has violated sanctions, it must accept the consequences. Many companies have faced heavy fines for violating U.S. sanctions.
