Over 1520 Billiard Clubs Operating in Iran

The president of the Bowling and Billiards Federation stated that the lack of sports facilities has led to an increase in the number of billiard clubs to 1520, resulting in the creation of 15,000 jobs and the training of 1,000 coaches in this field. Shahryari, speaking on the sidelines of the billiards assembly in Yazd province, told ISNA that among the federation's plans for this year are holding national championship competitions in snooker in Qazvin, a level 2 refereeing course in Qazvin, Isfahan, Shiraz, Kermanshah, and Tabriz, sending national teams for snooker, 9-ball, and billiards to Asian competitions, and planning for participation in the Olympic and Asian Championships in Doha, Qatar. He further expressed his dissatisfaction with media outlets for not covering the activities of this sport, stating that newspapers have strayed from their journalistic integrity and are now focusing on the sidelines of sports rather than the sports themselves. Shahryari concluded by noting that billiards has not yet reached the stage of player transfers and the buying and selling of champions, which is why newspapers cannot capitalize on it economically, but he hopes that sports media will focus more on promoting sports in the country, educating the public, and introducing the sport to the people.
